2nd place finish for Skate to Excellence, incredible effort. Congratulations to the Manitoba Thunderbolts who defeated Skate to Excellence 3-2 (in overtime) in the final game.

Super Rink #7 - Blaine
Took some pics last night at my sons Showcase hockey game. Not a good outcome in the win/loss category. However, got some god pics.

Centennial Cougar High School Boys - 2/27/2010
Had a front row seat to an area high school boys high school game. Great opportunity to take some pictures. Anticipating the action is absolutely required being on the glass.

First Post
Starting this blog to publicly document learning photography from an absolute novice perspective.
My son is a goalie for a MN hockey team and I wanted to take pictures of him in action. After a fair amount of research the following is my set-up:
My son is a goalie for a MN hockey team and I wanted to take pictures of him in action. After a fair amount of research the following is my set-up:
- Sony A330 DSLR camera
- The camera came as a package deal with a couple of stock lenses
- For capturing quality pictures in an ice arena, a good quality lense is needed, we decided on this Tamron lense
- After some time with this set-up, a mono-pod is needed as the camera and lense is rather heavy for an hour plus hockey game. We just purchased a cheap mono-pod from a local electronics store.
- A good bag to hold all of the above that is easy to carry around is also absolutely beneficial. Doing a fair amount of research, we settled on the Urban Disguise 35 bag.
The above is just a quick summary of the set-up. Future posts will discuss other topics related photography.
